Axe CATM Multiscale thermophysical characterization and analysis of materials and processes

This first cross-disciplinary axis is truly the common denominator for all three teams. It is based on our desire to create a MULTIMAT scientific and technological platform for multi-scale thermophysical (essentially thermal and mechanical) characterization of materials and processes. The construction of this platform is currently being finalized. It is a joint platform of the Université de Reims Champagne Ardenne (URCA) and the Université Technologique de Troyes (UTT), and is mainly supported by two laboratories: ITheMM on the URCA side, and LASMIS on the UTT side. It is therefore recognized and supported by our two supervisory bodies. It is based on the equipment and measuring devices present in our respective laboratories, which will be identified as a platform and future complementary equipment planned as part of the next CPER.

The pooling of these experimental resources will enable us to pool our scientific characterization activities and define cross-disciplinary projects.

This platform aims to enhance our expertise in advanced manufacturing processes and materials under extreme stress. This includes mastering and optimizing the process/structure relationship, particularly for architectural materials obtained by additive manufacturing. The second area concerns multi-scale thermal, mechanical and structural characterization of materials under extreme stress (fast dynamic measurements, high temperatures, small space scales, corrosion, etc.).
