Lock-in thermography with a focal plane array

Résumé :

A focal plane array is used in a lock-in infrared thermography set-up. Two procedures are used to verify the validity of the phase lags given by the numerical lock-in. The first one makes use of a body with a periodically modulated emission in near and middle infrared. The second one uses an ARMCO iron sample whose thermal properties are well known. This experimental set-up is used to estimate the thermal conductivity of epoxy polymer coatings onto an aluminium substrate. An example of a phase lag map is shown for such a sample and the use of this focal plane array camera is discussed.
